Are you currently on the Ketogenic diet and struggling to lose weight? Or have you been on The Keto diet for some time and you hit a plateau? This is something that I have heard many of times and personally have struggled with.
You may asking yourself, "Am I eating all the right Keto friendly foods?" Check. "Am I watching my Calorie intake on a regular basis?" Check. "Am I watching my water intake and drinking at least 4 to 8 cups a day? ", Check. Then, "why in the world am I not losing weight!?". This is something that can literally drive you crazy and make you very frustrated. Knowing you are doing everything right, yet that scale of yours just wont budge!
Been there and done that and I can relate so much to the frustration you are going thru. On my Keto Journey, I was consistently losing weight about a half to one pound a week, it was smooth sailing and then one day poof! it just stopped all together! I literally, for the life of me could not understand why I hit this plateau, when I was doing everything right. It was beyond annoying. It took about a month of not losing any weight, until I found the secret to get over this hump. I discovered Intermittent fasting.
Intermittent fasting is an eating pattern, where you cycle between periods of eating and fasting. It does not say anything about what foods to eat, but rather when you should eat them. This goes perfectly with the Ketogenic diet. There are several different intermittent fasting methods, in which you can split the day into eating and fasting. There are several methods you can do, to your choosing. Some of the popular methods are the 12/12, meaning you fast for 12 hours a day. If you get about 8 hours of sleep and just do not eat for a few hours after waking up, you are fasting!
Another Popular method, that I personally do is the 16/8. I found this one to be really effective and started seeing results right away! You fast for 16 hours and eat within your 8 hour window. No food is allowed during your fasting period, but you can drink liquids such as water, tea, and coffee.
My typical Morning starts with a regular coffee and a little bit of Almond Creamer or Organic Half and Half. These have very low carbs and less than 25 calories. I also drink plenty of water through out the my morning. Drinking these, curbs my appetite and helps me feel full. I usually do not eat lunch till about noon to one o'clock each day. Once I have my lunch, that leaves my window open to eat until eight pm. That is usually my typical intermittent fasting day. Since implementing intermittent fasting, in addition to my Keto Lifestyle, it has put me back on track of my weight loss goals, gives me more energy, and has helped my metabolism substantially.
So if you need to get over that frustrating plateau or kick your Keto weight loss back into gear, I recommend trying Intermittent Fasting. You will be amazed with the great results!
